Flat vs Classic Lashes – What’s the Difference?

When you first start lashing or getting lash extensions, it can feel like a whole new language! One question we get asked all the time is:

“What’s the difference between flat lashes and classic lashes?”

Let’s break it down so it’s easy to understand—whether you’re a client or a lash tech in training.

✨ Classic Lashes (0.15)

These are the OG lashes used for classic sets—one extension per one natural lash.

They’re round in shape and mimic the look of a natural lash, giving a soft, fluffy, mascara-like finish.

Perfect for:

  • Clients who want a natural enhancement

  • Beginners learning classic application

  • Everyday wear

💖 Flat Lashes (0.15 Ellipse/Cashmere)

Flat lashes have a split, oval base rather than round. This makes them 50% lighter than classic lashes of the same diameter—so you get that bold, defined look without the weight.

They also bond better to the natural lash, which can help improve retention.

Why lash techs love them:

  • They're easier to work with

  • Great for weak or thin natural lashes

  • They give a darker, fuller lash line

💡 So... Which Should You Use?

Both are amazing—it really depends on the client’s natural lashes and the look they’re after.

Use classic if they want soft and natural.
Use flat/cashmere if they want drama, retention, and lightweight comfort.

You can even mix them in a set for texture and depth!
