How to Monitor Your Lash Room Temperature & Humidity
Monitor Lash Room Temperature & Humidity for Better Eyelash Extension Retention
It’s essential to control the temperature and humidity in your lash room—not just for your eyelash extension adhesive, but also for client comfort and eye safety. Cyanoacrylate-based lash glue cures (polymerises) in the presence of moisture, so your room environment directly affects drying speed, bond quality and overall retention.
Why It Matters
- Lash glue is activated by humidity. Moisture in the air starts the curing process.
- Low humidity → glue cures too slowly, stays tacky longer and can cause stickies and weak bonds.
- High humidity → glue flash-cures (dries too fast), reducing wrap, creating brittle bonds and risking poor retention or whitening (blooming).
Ideal Ranges (Always Check Your Glue Label)
- Humidity: typically 50–70% RH for most professional adhesives.
- Temperature: typically 21–28°C (70–82°F).
Each adhesive is different—always follow the specific window on your bottle. If you’re outside the ideal range, adjust your room conditions before you start lashing.
What You Need to Measure & Control
- 🧪 Thermo-hygrometer (reads room temperature & humidity)
- ❄️ Air conditioning / heating (most reliable all-year control)
- 💧 Humidifier (to raise humidity) or dehumidifier (to lower humidity)
- 🌬️ Gentle ventilation to reduce lingering fumes around the eye area
How to Set Up Your Reading for Accuracy
- Place the thermo-hygrometer at bed height, near the client’s head—but not directly under vents, windows or lights.
- Give your room a few minutes to stabilise after turning on AC/heater before you start.
- Recheck readings during long appointments or when weather shifts.
Quick Troubleshooting
- Lots of stickies / slow dry: Humidity may be too low or your glue is too slow for the room. Raise RH with a humidifier, use a nano-mist lightly, or switch to a faster adhesive from our Meraki Lash Liquids.
- Fans closing / brittle bonds: Humidity may be
