How to Shake Lash Glue for Better Retention

How to Shake Lash Glue Properly for Better Adhesion & Long-Lasting Retention

If you’re serious about eyelash extension retention, properly mixing your lash glue is non-negotiable. Cyanoacrylate adhesives separate in the bottle; a fully mixed, rich, dark black adhesive (no grey streaks, no translucency) is the sign your glue is ready to perform. Anything less can cause poor bonding, weak fan wrap and faster shed.

Step 1: Prep & Shake Every Time

Your new adhesive arrives in a foil pouch—store the bottle upright in that pouch to protect it from light and moisture. Inside you’ll find a red pin to open the nozzle on first use.

  • Remove the cap and open the nozzle with the red pin (first use only), then replace the cap firmly.
  • Shake by hand for 60 seconds (or until the glue turns a uniform deep black).
  • Do a quick test drop on a lint-free pad before filling your glue ring. If it looks separated, keep shaking.

Pro tip: Wipe the nozzle with a lint-free wipe before capping to prevent crusting and air gaps.

Step 2: Use a Glue Shaker (Optional but Game-Changing)

If you lash all day or want consistent mixing with less wrist strain, a glue shaker is your bestie.

  • Most shakers include multiple attachments to fit different bottle necks.
  • Secure the bottle and shake for 30–60 seconds for a perfectly blended adhesive.
  • Follow with a test drop—look for smooth, glossy, jet-black glue.

Step 3: Refresh Your Glue Drop Regularly

Lash glue cures fast—even in your glue ring—especially in warm or humid rooms.

  • Replace your glue drop every 20–30 minutes (or sooner in high humidity).
  • Re-shake for ~30 seconds before dispensing each fresh drop.
  • Use smaller beads for high humidity to avoid flash-cure; larger beads can help in lower humidity.

Common Mixing & Retention Mistakes (and Fixes)

  • Grey/clear streaks in the drop: Glue isn’t fully mixed → shake longer or use a glue shaker.
  • Stringy/tacky glue: Room humidity may be too low → increase RH or switch to a faster adhesive.
  • Chalky/whitening (blooming): Glue may be flash-curing in high RH → work with smaller beads and refresh drops more often.
  • Crust on the nozzle: Wipe with a lint-free pad before capping; store upright in the foil pouch.

Quick Checklist

  • Open with the red pin (first use), cap tightly.
  • Shake 60-90s by hand or 30–60s in a shaker every time.
  • Test drop looks jet black and smooth.
  • Refresh drop every 20–30 minutes.
